Why You Should Drink Organic Coffee

I love Coffee! There – I said it. However, I have become such a coffee snob that over many years of trying different brands, from different countries, both organically and conventionally grown, to researching which brands are the healthiest, I will only drink organic. Not only is organically grown coffee healthier but the flavor profile is just so luxurious and delicious. I personally fancy the brand Life Boost Coffee, particularly because it meets all of my standards and the requirements for my Luxy palate. Here are some of the health benefits of drinking organic. There are several health benefits associated with consuming organic coffee:

 1. Lower pesticide exposure: Organic coffee is grown without the use of synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers. This reduces the risk of pesticide residues in the coffee beans and ultimately in your cup. Prolonged exposure to pesticides has been linked to various health issues, including cancer, reproductive problems, and neurological disorders.

 2. Antioxidant properties: Coffee is a rich source of antioxidants, which help protect the body against free radicals and oxidative stress. Organic coffee, in particular, contains higher levels of antioxidants compared to conventionally grown coffee due to the natural farming practices used. Antioxidants play a crucial role in reducing the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and certain types of cancer.

 3. Reduced mycotoxin exposure: Mycotoxins are toxic substances produced by certain fungi that can contaminate coffee beans during storage and processing. Organic coffee is often subject to stricter quality control measures, reducing the risk of mycotoxin contamination. Mycotoxins have been associated with various health problems, including liver damage, immune system suppression, and cancer.

 4. Potential for improved digestion: Some individuals report that consuming organic coffee can lead to less digestive discomfort compared to regular coffee. This may be due to the absence of synthetic additives or the natural farming practices used in organic coffee production.

 5. Environmental benefits: Choosing organic coffee supports sustainable farming practices that prioritize soil health, biodiversity, and water conservation. By opting for organic coffee, you are indirectly contributing to the preservation of ecosystems and reducing the environmental impact of coffee production.

Note: while organic coffee offers potential health benefits, moderation is still key. Excessive consumption of coffee, regardless of its organic status, can lead to negative effects such as caffeine dependency, disrupted sleep patterns, and increased heart rate. So, if you’re consuming two pots of coffee, you’re doing more harm than good for your body. For most classic coffee makers, that’s about twenty-four cups!
